The funeral of Sabaratnam Baskeran, a senior PLOTE member in Vavuniya, will take place on Monday, said the group's spokesman today. He was killed in a claymore mine attack on Friday 16.

The body was taken to his house at Kovilkulam, about 3 km. South-east of Vavuniya, from the hospital this afternoon.

PLOTE sources said that they are waiting for the arrival of his brother and sister from Jaffna tomorrow evening.

Baskeran was the group's administrative officer in Vavuniya.

He also functioned as leader of the Vavuniya PLOTE group when N.Manikkadasan, PLOTE's second in command and military wing leader, was away from Sri Lanka.
