Tamils should not be deceived by Mahinda’s promise - LF Secretary

[TamilNet, Thursday, 14 January 2010, 03:57 GMT]
“How can Mahinda Rajapakse government offer a permanent political solution to the Tamils when it refuses to release the Tamil political prisoners who are on hunger strike?” Samil Jayanithi, the secretary of Leftist Front, asked. “A political solution for the Tamils is nothing but a drama staged by the government to get the votes of the Tamils,” he added.

“Mahinda Rajpakse’s statement that he would find a political solution to the Tamils is a ploy to deceive the Tamils which should be condemned, Samil said.

“Thousands of Tamils were killed in the war and many Tamils are still being held in camps. Even after doing this to the Tamils Rajapakse government is trying all what it can to get the Tamils’ votes,” he said.

“Mahinda Rajapakse is suddenly full of love for the Tamils and if it is genuine why does he continue to keep innocent Tamil political prisoners in jails?” he asked.

“Mahinda Rajapkase and his men, being warmongers and arrogant majority chauvinists, will never release the Tamil political prisoners. Tamils should not succumb to their deceptive promises,” he said.
