Army advance repulsed - LTTE

An attempt by the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) to advance towards Moonrumurippu, southwest of Mankulam, yesterday morning around 9.45 a.m. was repulsed, said the Liberation Tigers in a press release issued from their International Secretariat in London.

The press release said "LTTE forces Thursday attacked a Sri Lankan army advance to Moonrumurippu inflicting heavy casualties and forcing the military to retreat to its original positions."

"Many Sri Lankan soldiers were killed and some arms and ammunitions were captured. LTTE recovered 3 bodies of Sri Lankan soldiers abandoned by the fleeing army", said the press release.

"Four LTTE fighters died in the confrontation", it further said..
